Just watching

On a recent trip to Montreal, Canada, I had the opportunity to stay at a hotel in Old Montreal (St. Paul - I totally recommend it!). The weather was amazing and the neighbourhood was perfect! It was a sunny week with some cold breeze at night.

On my last night, I decided to ditch the group dinner and just enjoy the evening by myself.I have "no" issues with having a meal by myself. On the contrary, I recommend that because it gets you out of your comfort zone and the idea of being entertained by another person.

I sat at this cute little restaurant just around the corner from the hotel and with a new book in hand, watched people/cars/horse carriages/dogs go by.

Watching people is so therapeutic

All while reading a book and listening to the sounds of Leonard Cohen over the speakers. I would read 2 pages, then look up and stare at whatever is coming towards me. Then lose myself in the pages of my book "Secrets of a Shoe Addict".

I thought how lucky am I to be here, enjoying a really good meal (grilled cajun chicken on greens with almonds) with a glass of wine, in the romantic city of Montreal.

I took it all in. All of it.

I left something behind in this beautiful city but I yearn to rekindle the relationship again.

Montreal...Here's to watching you!
