Send in the Fools
My friends always bug me about my memory. "They say" I don't forget anything [yah right!]. Here's my secret, if I want to really remember something, I take a picture of the event, or visualize words so they can stick in my index of memories. Then at night time, just as soon as I hit the pillow, I do a quick run of my day.
When I used to play the piano many years ago, I made an effort to visualize the notes of the chorus. This was my way of holding on to special things.
From time to time, I empty out the unused portions of this index to make room for new pictures/letters/special moments.
A couple of days ago, I was watching the pairs short program figure skating and a song came on. I closed my eyes searching my memory index, but could not identify the name. My ears did but I was drawing a blank. No notes. No letters. No nothing. You see, that's the price of cleaning house.
Here's what screwed me up!
"Send in the Clowns" by Stephen Sondheim from the 1973 musical "A Little Night Music".
FYI - The "clowns" in the title do not refer to circus clowns. Instead, they symbolize fools.
So, Aliona Savcgenko & Robin Szolkowy of the German Figure Skating team missed that. {Whatever} They did get the Bronze.
